Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone National Park, was designated a national
park in 1872. The bulk of the park is located in Wyoming, but it also
extends into Montana and Idaho. The park was the first of its kind,
and is known for its wildlife and geothermal features, especially Old
Faithful Geyser, one of the most popular attractions in the park.

Yellowstone National Park spans an area of almost
9,000 square kilometres and is made up of lakes, canyons, rivers and
mountain ranges. Yellowstone Lake is one of the largest high-altitude
lakes in North America and is centered over the Yellowstone Caldera,
the largest active volcano in North America. The park also has one of
the world's largest petrified forests, 290 waterfalls and 2 deep canyons
that cut their way through the Yellowstone Plateau. The Lewis River
flows through Lewis Canyon in the south, and the Yellowstone River has
carved the colorful Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone in its journey north.
Yellowstone is home to hundreds of species of mammals,
birds, fish and reptiles. Grizzlies, wolves, and herds of bison and
elk roam freely in the park. Yellowstone has many activities on offer,
including white water rafting and a scenic river float. Yellowstone
is easily America’s greatest ‘must see’ attraction.
