Just a note to let you know how much I enjoyed my Vietnam tour. It was outstanding.
Our guide, Tho Nguyen, was superb on all fronts. He went out of his way to accommodate any and all requests. In addition, he went the extra mile and made us feel as though we belonged as friends, introducing us to some of his friends and spending some of his personal time with us. They don't come better. I consider Tho a personal friend. Thanks for connecting us with him.
Also an exuberant "well done" for our cook and companion, Lon Von Hoang on the Sa Pa portion of our itinerary. Lon( pronounced Luan - I don't have the special characters on my keyboard) produced excellent meals in remote and difficult situations. I'm a bit of a cook myself and Lon amazed me. Not only did he cook well he also acted as an interesting travel companion. I genuinely liked the man. Kumuka is fortunate to have access to both of these gentlemen.
I was introduced to all of our transportation providers and to my shame have forgotten every name. Tho could probably provide a list of them. They also did their jobs well. They were on time and where they were supposed to be without fail. They provided safe, comfortable transportation, not always an easy task in Vietnam and particularily Ha Noi traffic. Hats off to these individuals.
Just a comment on the itinerary change. As it turned out I can't say enough good things about the trip; the Vietnamese people and Vietnam itself, the accomodations, just everything. As I stated in my opening, the tour was outstanding. That said, I was disappointed in the itinerary change, espectially at the last minute. I understand that it occured because of the important Vietnamese holiday that happened at the same time we needed to travel back and forth to Sa Pa. I expect my travel specialist to know about these things and to plan accordingly. Saying that, I also understand that your company may have been waiting to close the tour and make the arrangements hoping for more participation. That's understandable, none the less I felt a bit used and didn't like it.
Again, the tour was outstanding! I'm only providing a bit of feedback that you and your fellow Kumuka employees may wish to consider in the future. I'd use Kumuka again, but I'd ask a few more questions on the front end next time. I consider it another lesson learned, no permanent damage done.
Thanks again for a lovely time.
Sincerely,
Greg Chalmers
