Adventure
tours to Canada including Banff National Park
Banff National Park - Located in the province of
Alberta, Banff National Park is the oldest national park in Canada established
in 1885 and covers almost 7,000 square kilometers of some of the most
impressive scenery imaginable. It has it all, mountains, alpine forests,
wildflower meadows, glaciers, rivers, waterfalls, lakes, and wildlife.
The park is easily accessible from Calgary, only an hour and a half
away, or four hours from Edmonton. Passing through the park is the Trans-Canada
Highway which stops at several charming, small towns including Banff
itself and Lake Louise. Located in the north of the park connected by
the Icefields Parkway is Peyto Lake which has become one of Canada's
national images, due to its picture-postcard scenery highlighted by
the emerald colour of the lake.
Needless to say, the options for hiking are endless, as are camping,
climbing, horse riding, and skiing. And with so many trails, it is not
hard to feel like you are the only person in this vast wilderness, making
Banff National Park the perfect getaway.
