Introduction: Starting in Mexico City, the largest and busiest capital on earth, we travel through Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula to Playa del Carmen on the Caribbean coast, and then on to the beautiful colonial town of Antigua. As we journey across Mexico, you will see some of the greatest of the ancient Mayan, Aztec and Zapotec sites, witness spectacular scenery and learn about ancient civilisations, indigenous people and Mexican cuisine. Then there is time to relax along the Caribbean coastline at Playa del Carmen and then at the coral cayes in Belize where there are opportunities to snorkel, dive and even swim with sharks! We explore the Mayan caves of San Ignacio and the ancient city of Tikal before flying to Guatemala City and continuing by road to Antigua. We head to Panajachel on the shores of Lake Atitlan with its dramatic volcanoes, and visit the colourful markets of Chichicastenango, before ending our tour back in Antigua.
