referred to as the "Land of the Rising Sun". The Japanese refer
to Japan as Nippon and Nihon.
Japan's population is around 127.3 million, it is the world's second
largest economy and has one of the highest life expectancy rates in the
world.
It
is made up of over 3,000 islands the largest of which are Honshu, Hokkaido,
Kyushu and Shikoku. Most of the islands are mountainous and many are volcanic.
