'Excellent' probably doesn't cover the abilities of our tour leaders when basically flying blind for several days at a time. 10 days with no internet, intermittent cellphone, no newspaper, and no radio or tv since they were government controlled. Despite this kind of handicap, they still managed and made the right decisions. Even without this, they performed exceptionally well, adjusting the itinerary when necessary for both weather and other issues.

Introduction: This tour takes you back to a time of kingdoms, crusades and ancient civilisations, following the complex interwoven tapestry of colour, culture, politics and history that is the Middle East. Explore the Arabian Middle East in real depth. There is plenty of time for action too – sail on a felucca down the Nile, sleep under the stars or enjoy a camel safari in the Western Desert of Egypt, ascend Mount Sinai or try snorkelling on the Red Sea reefs. Then on to Jordan where we explore Petra – the Red Rose city, and float on the Dead Sea, before crossing into Syria with its wealth of ancient cities, endless desert plains and bustling markets. The tour ends back in Amman, Jordan’s capital.
