Philippa Hinton says:
I am writing following one of the most amazing trips of my entire life in Nepal recently. I booked the Annapurna Circuit trek through your company and completed my tour three days ago on 27 March 2010.

I have to say that from start to finish, the service on the tour was outstanding. The kit bags we were given were ample in size, the sleeping bags and down jackets were extremely warm, and the transport was comfortable and reliable.

The tour itself was extremely memorable- it is hard not to be when you are walking through the Himalayas every day and coming across mountain scenery like none other. But what made the tour for myself and for all of my other travel companions was our guide Jhamka, and all of our porters, Biru, Lale, Budi, Subash and Rajue.

I have been on many other tours before in South East Asia and used many different companies before, and I can safely say, that Jhamka was the most professional and competent guide that I have ever come accross. He was always in control and knew the trail and the accomodation inside out. He was sure to always keep the group informed of the next days itinerary and what to expect and to discuss any changes or problems with us. He was extremely accomodating of our meal requests and went out of his way to show us a piece of Nepal and Nepali culture that I think many people who do the Annapurna Circuit easily miss.

Jhamka was a breath of fresh air every day, always laughing, always smiling and extremely knowledgeable and approachable. He truly made the tour for me and my travel companion, and I could not have asked any more of him. He was incredibly supportive and respectful of the group's different fitness levels and was always conscious of our health and wellbeing.

Lale, my porter, always greeted me with a smile, despite having to lug around what I'm sure was not the lightest of bags at high altitudes, and was extremely polite and friendly to myself and all of the other members of the group. He was also conscious of my health and very knowledgable and it was a delight to see his smiling face every morning.

Rajue has extremely good English skills, and is also very polite. He was always very attentive to our needs, and was also very knowledgable. I would reccomend him as a guide assistant, if he were to be given the chance. The other porters, Biru, Subash and Budi were all extremely friendly, and very helpful whenever they were asked a question or anyone needed assistance- especially me when descending from icy Thorung La Pass- Biru was with me every step of the way!

So I just wanted to let everyone at Kumuka know what a great job these guys did and how much I appreciate all of their hard work. This tour has been extremely memorable for me, and I would not hesitate in recommending Kumuka to any one of my friends contemplating a trip to Nepal.

Regards,

Philippa Hinton
Introduction: Trekking in the Annapurna region provides dramatic contrasts between green terraced farmland of the Marshyangdi valley and the massive peaks of the western portion of the great Annapurna. These peaks include Mt. Manaslu, Buddha Himal, Annapurna II & IV Gangapurna and Tilicho. In spite of the great heights of the surrounding peaks and ice walls, the valley floor between provides some of the best trekking in Nepal. Highlights include: the Thorong La (5416m), which must be crossed on the Annapurna Circuit trek, to reach the sacred site of Muktinath. This temple complex is a pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists and from here the sunrise on Dhaulagiri is particularly striking. Descending from Muktinath, you will be rewarded with great views of the Mustang region and caves in the northern hillside used as shelters by Tibetan refugees after China took over Tibet. Descend through the beautiful river valley into the world's deepest river gorge, carved by the mighty Kali Gandaki River, as it slices between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs. Relax in the hot springs at Tatopani and ascend Poon Hill for sunrise and panoramic mountain views over the Annapurnas, including Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Ganagapurna, Annapurna III, Nilgiri, Machhapuchhare, Dhaulagiri & many more. The trek itself ends in Pokhara, with its beautiful setting on the shores of the lake.

Please note: This trek is physically demanding and requires an above average level of fitness. Some trekking experience is recommended. Please discuss your suitability with your consultant if you have any concerns before booking.

Please note that for any client opting to pay the single supplement, this covers accommodation in hotels only on the tour, not in tea houses, where single rooms cannot be guaranteed.
